The Hendrick International Research Group (HIRG) is a research and training Group which has as its primary mission providing high quality, cost effective leadership in population and health research to the local communities, academia nationally and internationally as well as international agencies. As a geo-data organisation, the HIRG arose out of the need to address the lack of use of evidenced-based policy for development in Sub-Saharan Africa. As a newly-created 21st century initiative, we exist to provide cutting-edge research and training services to academia, policy makers, industry and government on a range of areas to address development needs.
Headquartered in Kinshasa, DRC, HIRG was established in 2017 to provide high quality policy-relevant research on population, health, education, urbanization and related development issues across Africa. It also specialises in expert report writing while actively engaging with policy makers and other key stakeholders to achieve measurable policy impacts and ensure decision making across the continent is informed by rigorous evidence-based research.
HIRG, led by a team of experts with university background, was established in 2017 with the goal of building a multidisciplinary research centre of excellence in the heart of Africa. HIRG has four major thematic emphases: population, health, development, environmental research. Beyond these four themes, we carry out and support research in all facets of population and health, broadly defined. We serve as a bridge between bio-statisticians, epidemiologists, medical demographers, health economics and biomedical scientists in Africa and the world. Activities and services include statistical consultancy, data collection, and training of trainers. We invest our time in multidisciplinary projects.
HIRG is also committed to training and developing the next generation of globally competitive African professionals and leading by example through numerous research capacity strengthening initiatives and strong partnerships with top academic institutions. Over the last decade, its founders have contributed to a better Africa through quality peer review research production, and evidence-based scientific report writing.
